E.C. Comstock

Comstock (any pronoun) is a clay-based interdisciplinary 3D artist based in Minneapolis, MN. They have spent time making work in Idaho, Utah, Colorado, North Carolina, and Montana.

Comstock’s work embraces stoicism as a mandated process of being. They examine the tender vestiges of forbearance while generating tools to abstractly and physically transmit affection. Their thinking pulls from scholarship and practices which center the agency and vibrancy of matter, relishing in the use of body as material and material as body. In this way, the creation and use of ceramic objects is a research method for cultivating permeability, performing a close reading of matter, and generating a text.
