E.C. Comstock
Comstock (all pronouns) is a ceramic artist most recently based in Minneapolis, MN, studying in the MFA program at Tyler School of Art in the in Philadelphia, PA. They have spent time making work in Idaho, Utah, Colorado, North Carolina, and Montana.
Comstock looks to the built environment as a reflection and a formative force of spiritual and sexual longing in the contemporary U.S. Tactile limbs of autonomous material repetition reach to human agencies with holes that generously receive, tools that withstand and transform, and brick that forbearingly support. Comstock’s work asks how the resilience of nonhuman matter can guide human empathy, stoicism, and softness.
